Proposed Charter and Amendment Passed
The proposed charter and amendment were both ratified by the membership at the Oct. 11 meeting. The new charter will take effect immediately. The Executive Board (previously known as the Board of Directors) will be appointing officers, including the newly created positions of Facilities Director, Events Director, and Technology Director, at the next monthly business meeting on Nov. 8. Members interested in holding an office should contact the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers Needed Saturday Morning (9/20)
The carpet's installed, the walls are painted... now it's time to set up tables, chairs, and cabinets so we can get back to gaming! We need volunteers at MOSSL at 10am Saturday morning to get everything back in place. Some of the cabinets are not on wheels and we'd rather not risk damaging the brand-new carpet, so we'd like some people who are comfortable with lifting heavy loads to show up. For everyone else, there will be plenty of smaller tables and chairs to move.
Pete Stein, president, has offered donuts to all who show up to help. See you Saturday morning!
CABS Seeking Laptop Donations
The Technology Committee is seeking new or used laptops in good condition to update and expand the network we rely upon at conventions. If you have one or more laptops you would like to donate, please contact email@example.com.
Thanks to our BGF Donors
The Board of Directors would like to thank just some of the donors who made Buckeye Game Fest 2014 a success:
Rio Grande Games for the generous donation of giveaway games...
Days of Wonder for shipping games Second Day Air to refresh some worn-out library games (and provide a few extras)...
Ravenwood Castle for their generous donation of a gift certificate for a two-night stay anywhere on the grounds, which was given as the grand prize in our raffle...
And meeplesource.com for their donation of custom-painted meeples, game bits, and gift certificates!
BYOG Night at Shadowbox Sept. 24
Our third Bring Your Own Game Night will be held at Shadowbox Live's Backstage Bistro in the Brewery District on Wednesday, Sept. 24. This is a great opportunity to game in an adult atmosphere and enjoy food and drink (including alcoholic beverages) during the week. It's also a great opportunity for us to promote CABS to non-members who may be learning about us for the first time from Shadowbox promotional mailings!
Official start time is 7:30pm, but people often show up earlier or later, with the action going until 11pm or later.
BGF Event Grid is Live
The event grid for Buckeye Game Fest is now live! All 43 of our scheduled events, including tournaments, single-table events, and Elder Entertainment's roleplaying events, are free for those who have preregistered (including all CABS members). To view and register for events, please see our page on eventbrite.com.
BGF Room Block Closes Aug. 24
The last day to reserve a hotel room at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North at the Buckeye Game Fest block rate ($85/night) is this Sunday, August 24. After that the price will increase to $139/night.
CABS Library Closed for BGF
In preparation for Buckeye Game Fest, the Board of Directors asks that games from the library no longer be taken off-site. Also, if you have checked out a game from the CABS library, please return it at this week's or next week's general meeting.
Game Night @ Shadowbox Aug. 27
CABS will hold our third Bring Your Own Game Night in conjunction with Shadowbox Live at their Backstage Bistro restaurant on August 27. Food and drinks will be available. This is a great opportunity to introduce people outside our club to boardgaming and CABS, so please bring a few games and enjoy some great food! Our last BYOG night had over 50 attendees. Official start time is 7:30pm, but feel free to show up earlier or later.
Board of Directors Meeting Aug. 30
The Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting at 6pm during the August 30 regular meeting. While no formal agenda has yet been set, items for discussion are expected to include review of member comments on the proposed charter, and preparations for Buckeye Game Fest. All CABS members are encouraged to attend.
